Judson Kilpatrick GLOBAL RYTHM - USA

A talented guitarist and producer, Goze has absorbed global influences. Born and reared in France, he spent seven years in Japan (now calling England home), where he has established himself as ‘Mr. World Music’ in the TV industry. His present label, Bar De Lune, is fast becoming famous among the chill-out crowd for eclectic compilations like the Buddha Bar series, on which Goze’s productions have appeared. This album fits in that genre, as Goze lays breezy, Spanish-style guitar runs over down-tempo beats and occasional, well-placed vocal samples. The electronica touches are so understated on most of the tracks that this set will appeal more to fans of smooth jazz. And the world music influences will remind some of Peter Gabriel, a hero of Goze’s. Though the overall sound is oh-so-light, these instrumentals cannot be dismissed as mere background music. Goze’s guitar work is too inventive and complex for such labeling. Get this if you want something a bit more hip than Windham Hill flamenco.

Kingsley Marshall, All Music Guide

Having rapidly established itself as a major force in the slippery world of shoe-shuffling chill via a series of esteemed compilations, Bar De Lune started picking up artists of its own through 2002. Acts such as Dust, Radar, and Neil Cowley’s Fragile States demonstrated much promise, and added to this esteemed lineup is Christophe Goze. Born in Paris and raised in Japan, though a resident of the UK since 1996, Goze is an adept acoustic guitarist, and it is this that shifts his debut album above the level of his downbeat house contemporaries. Though occasionally twee, with ‘Something Like This’ more Kenny G than Charlie Parker, Goze succeeds in clawing out his own niche by way of rich arrangements and lashings of eased instrumentation.

Yo Christophe! Listening more and more to the album I must admit I think it’s absolutely marvellous. I think you have taken certain styles and reached a new level of quality that’s fresh for all to hear. Really good stuff .

Marco Fulone (Radio Monte Carlo) - Italy

Congratulations on a fantastic album Show Me the Way! I have great respect for what the French music scene has been producing lately, like St Germain, Gotan Project, etc... your music is smart and original like theirs. Keep up the good work!

Jason - South Africa

Hi there and thank you for a wonderful album that is very well put together. It is the simplicity and depth to the chord changes and textures that gives this album a class of its own and totally new perspective in a market that’s flooded with a lot of lifeless sounds.
